Beach Cleaning at East Coast Park

Beach Cleaning at East Coast Park

Organised in conjunction with Kofuzan Kaimyo-in’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, for believers to express appreciation to the local community

Following swiftly on the back of the Men and Youth Divisions' Food Distribution Exercise held in April 2023, the Women and Children Divisions organised a Beach Cleaning-cum-Picnic at East Coast Park on 24th June 2023. Both community outreach activities were organised in conjunction with Kofuzan Kaimyo-in’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, for believers to express appreciation to the local community that has allowed Kaimyo-in to grow and flourish over the years.

Led by Chief Priest Reverend Shingaku Kato, participants kickstarted the day with morning prayers for the success of the event before proceeding to the park in three buses.

Over 200 enthusiastic participants, including children as young as two years old to students, youths, parents, and even grandparents, were divided into eight groups.

Equipped with gloves, tongs, and rice sacks, they cleaned the park and beach, collecting about 20 sacks of trash and three containers of cigarette butts. Through this event, everyone learned the importance of protecting our natural park and keeping our environment clean.

After the successful clean-up, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved picnic. Adults savoured their lunches, while the children tucked into their Happy Meals on the grassy patch, under the shade of trees with the cool breeze blowing from the sea.

The activity ended with everyone feeling a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for future events of a similar nature, where we could do our part in keeping the environment clean and strengthening our bonds in the spirit of "One Kaimyo."
