Furthering support for residents of MacPherson Constituency

Furthering support for residents of MacPherson Constituency

"Only a life lived for others, is a life worthwhile"

Following the success of our inaugural food distribution outreach event held earlier in May 2022, Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Association (Singapore) was glad to have the opportunity to further extend our support to MacPherson residents-in-need, through two additional food distribution outreach events in August and November 2022 respectively.

Through the combined efforts of 70 support staff, a total of 50 households benefited from the November distribution event, where daily necessities such as eggs, instant beverages, rice and toothpaste were curated into gift bags for residents. While the food distribution exercise was meant to benefit the receiving households, our support staff too found themselves leaving the event with their hearts full, from the meaningful interactions they experienced from the preparation, to the execution of the event.

Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Association (Singapore) has been living up to the big theme of “kosen-rufu” since Kaimyo-in was established at 177 Sims Avenue in 2008. Our history is one of commitment to kosen-rufu. With this in mind, we have grown with you over the past 15 years. I am deeply grateful for the support of all Kaimyo-in believers.

As part of kosen-rufu efforts, we have been serving people and communities by doing shakubuku. However, today’s environment is becoming increasingly complex, especially due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Hence, from now on, we will not only be doing shakubuku but will also be distributing daily necessities directly to those in need, especially in the Kaimyo-in area, in an effort to help the community in any way we can. We feel that these activities are meaningful in these times.

We are committed to being an organisation trusted by the people of Singapore. We believe that all Kaimyo-in believers should participate in kosen-rufu activities and contribute to society at large. We will continue our volunteer activities in the future and look forward to your cooperation and participation.

While the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic may be behind us, the lasting effects of the pandemic on the livelihoods of many may still be felt for some time. Knowing the challenges that members of our community may be experiencing, it brings much comfort to our hearts that we have the opportunity to serve the community where Kaimyo-in is located in, in any way that we can.

Please join us as we express our heartfelt appreciation to the MacPherson Constituency and People's Association, without which, we would not have the opportunity to serve our community during these times of need.

Hand in hand, heart to heart. We stand ready to support Kaimyo-in's extended community in any way that we can!
