When the recession struck in the 1980s, Dora Chiu's small business collapsed. Her debts piled up, and her then-husband left the family without warning — leaving her alone with their two young children.
Despite her many doubts about Buddhism, a chance conversation with a friend led Dora to a meeting where she learnt about the power of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, where it became the turning point of her life. She shares how practising Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism has given her the courage to face life's challenges head-on, and the good fortune to meet people who supported her along the way — her Shoten Zenjins.
Karma does not disappear overnight, and that it took years of sincere practice to overcome her problems. Today, her greatest joy is having given her children what she calls the greatest treasure in the world — a connection with Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism.
